Szanowni Państwo,

Katedra Robotyki i Mechatroniki WIMiR zaprasza w dniu 7 grudnia 2023 roku o godz. 11:30 do s. 103 D-1 na seminarium naukowe prof. Artema Polyvyanyy z Uniersytetu w Melbourne nt.

Goal Recognition Using Process Mining Techniques

Abstract: Process mining studies methods, techniques, and tools for inferring insights from event data recorded in event logs of IT-systems. One of the core problems in process mining is process discovery which, given an event log, aims to automatically construct a model that faithfully represents the system that generated the event log. Process analysts use such constructed models to understand current and improve future real-world processes, for example, business processes in organizations. The quality of a discovered process model is commonly assessed using conformance checking techniques that, given a process model and an event log, aim to assess how well the model describes the system that induced the event log. In this seminar, I will introduce process discovery and conformance checking and present a solution to the goal recognition problem in artificial intelligence grounded in these process mining techniques, where the problem of goal recognition consists in automatically inferring a probability distribution over a range of possible goals of an autonomous agent based on the observations of their behavior.

Artem Polyvyanyy is an Associate Professor at the School of Computing and Information Systems, Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology, at the University of Melbourne (Australia), where he leads the Process Science and Technology research group. He is a Vice-Chair of the Steering Committee of the IEEE Task Force on Process Mining and the editor of the book entitled „Process Querying Methods.” Artem Polyvyanyy has a strong background in Theoretical Computer Science, Software Engineering, and Process Modeling and Analysis from the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy (Ukraine), Hasso Plattner Institute (Germany), and the University of Potsdam (Germany). In March 2012, he received a Ph.D. degree (Dr. rer. nat.) in the scientific discipline of Computer Science from the University of Potsdam (Germany). His research and teaching interests include Computing Systems, Distributed Systems, Process Mining, Process Querying, Artificial Intelligence, and Algorithms. Artem Polyvyanyy has published over 120 academic manuscripts, including book chapters, peer-reviewed journal articles, and refereed papers at international conferences. He has actively contributed to open-source initiatives that significantly impact research and practice, including jBPT and Oryx.
